Happy Birthday Dad!!!
On February 8th, my dad had a birthday!
It's a time to be thankful and remember the blessing he is in our lives!
He's been many things to us in the past and in the now:
*An active dad, who tickled us til we couldn't breathe,
who coached us on hot, sunny days (even when some people did cartwheels in the outfield. . .Holly!),
who was interested in every grade, class, sport, and activity that we were in.
*A sentimental dad who brought flowers when someone didn't make cheerleader, who laughed deeply, and loved unashamedly
*A teacher. . .although it was with a chalkboard propped up on the stove at 1:00am (but guess what, I can work with negative and positive numbers to this day! And, I LOVE math!)
*A man of faith, who studies deep and believes and hopes in what he can't see
*An educator. . .in driver's training who taught me to drive a stick shift first. . .by parking me on a hill and saying, "Practice".
*An encourager who although he had not completed his college degree wanted us to do so
*A man who perseveres who went back to college to complete his degrees and is now working on his doctorate.
*A man, who although lived with a bunch of girls, NEVER let us believe that we couldn't be what we wanted.
*A fabulous grandad who does all this and more. . .for the 2nd time around.
*A man who is always on his knees, lifting us up and trusting us in the Creator's hand
And, for that, I am most thankful!
I love you Dad!
*
